Welcome to the official website of the National Band Council of Australia Inc, the National organisation representing the Brass and Concert Bands of Australia, dedicated to the promotion, fellowship, and development of banding throughout Australia.


The National Band Council of Australia (NBCA) exists to:

  • ensure that national band contests, marching contests and solo and party competitions are conducted under a common set of rules;

  • promote a general love and knowledge of band music and good fellowship among band persons;

  • promote and control national band contests;

  • provide positive leadership and direction to enable Australian brass and concert bands to achieve their maximum potential through planned administration, policy development and communication.

The National Band Council of Australia is a representative body formed by agreement of the Australian State Governing Bodies which represent the six Australian States. It is incorporated under the relevant New South Wales legislation.

The NBCA acknowledges the Traditional Owners of country throughout Australia and their continuing connection to land, sea and community. We pay our respects to them and to their Elders past, present and emerging.
